Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using poitoko (the web app at poitoko.com, the iOS app and its extensions, or a poitoko browser extension), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

poitoko lets you save and organize highlighted text from web pages, books, and other sources. It includes a web application, an iOS app and its extensions, and browser extensions.

3. Your Account

• You must sign in with a Google or Apple account to use poitoko
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• You may not share your account with others

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you save to poitoko. By saving content, you grant poitoko a limited license to store and process it solely to provide the service to you.

We do not claim any rights over your saved highlights, notes, or other content.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use poitoko to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Infringe the intellectual property rights of others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure
• Use the service in any way that could harm or disrupt it

6. Account Deletion and Data Export

Account deletion. In the iOS app, open Settings → Account Management → Delete Account and confirm the deletion. When the request succeeds, poitoko deletes your account and user-owned data from its active systems, including saved fragments and highlights, notes, editorials and digests, account preferences, and authentication sessions. The app also signs you out and clears poitoko account data stored locally on that device. Account deletion cannot be undone.

Data export. Data export is request-based at launch; there is no self-service export feature. To request an export of data associated with your account, email hey@poitoko.com, preferably from the email address associated with your account.

Support requests. Use the same email address to request deletion of analytics data held separately by our analytics provider, or if you need help deleting an account and cannot access the iOS app. Tell us whether you are requesting an export, analytics deletion, or account-deletion assistance. We will acknowledge your email within 5 business days, verify your identity if needed, and aim to complete a verified request within 30 days. We will email you when processing is complete. If more time or information is required, we will explain why and provide an updated timeframe.

Deleting your poitoko account does not automatically delete analytics records held separately by our analytics provider. We may also retain limited records when needed for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement of our agreements. Such records are not kept as an active account and are deleted or anonymized when no longer needed. Residual copies may remain temporarily in routine backups and system logs until they are rotated out.

7. Disclaimers

poitoko is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. As a beta product, we do not guarantee uptime, data durability, or that the service will be available at any given time.

We recommend keeping your own copies of important content you save.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, poitoko shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including any loss of data.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. We will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
